Just think about the things that your body needs on a daily basis or it will die.
Oxygen is definitely one of the most important foods we eat. The amount we consume is pretty massive on a daily basis. People used to tell me that having a big nose is a huge advantage because you can consume more oxygen. Well, if size matters, I am one of the greatest consumers of oxygen on the face of the planet. See my newsletter article on oxygen for more in-depth information.
Breathing is one of the most important things you can do to improve your health and maximize your disease resistance.
Your brain can only survive for about six minutes without oxygen before your cells start to die. Doesn't it make sense that oxygen is the primary food that your body needs to be healthy? If you take 18 deep breaths in the morning and evening, your health and energy could change dramatically.
Deep breathing exercises twice every day, once in the morning and again before going to sleep, provide incredible benefits.
When you exercise your lungs daily, the following simple technique is useful. You should inhale as deep as possible. Then hold your breath for a count of ten. Then, let the air out completely.
It is important to force out as much used air as possible.
Your exhalations are full of carbon dioxide. The less the carbon dioxide, the better. You can actually consume more air with each breath as your deep breathing mechanism shifts into high gear.
Many researchers believe that one of the greatest causes of disease is a lack of adequate oxygen in cells.
Many years ago, in the time of dinosaurs, the oxygen levels were considerably higher than they are now. The people, during this time, had very active lifestyles that required lots of exercise. They had to work on farms, hunt, fish, raise babies, walk to distant locations and sometimes fight their neighbors. All these activities increased the amount of oxygen that went into the bloodstream.
Experts who studied the past believe that the amount of oxygen concentration in the air was as high as 37 percent.
Current tests by scientists show that the oxygen level in cities is somewhere around 17 percent. For the body to just stay alive and not go into a coma, the minimum amount of oxygen concentration in the air needs to be about 7 percent. On polluted days, where there's a lot of ozone and other pollutants, the oxygen concentration levels can drop dangerously low.
As a defense against pollution, many people have adopted what's called "shallow breathing."
The problem with shallow breathing is that your lungs are not getting enough oxygen into your cells so that they can work correctly. Cellular functions can not work correctly if adequate amounts of oxygen are not readily available.
Some scientists believe that the lack of adequate amounts of oxygen in the cells is the foundation and the beginning of many of the diseases that plague the human body.
There is a chemical process called the "KREBS Cycle" that provides the life energy for the cells. In this process, glucose, oxygen and ATP come together in the mitochondria of the cell, the little energy factory, that produces the life force. If there is not enough oxygen, the energy production grinds to a halt.
If you are short of oxygen, the energy production of the cells does not work the way it should.
When you don't have enough energy, you cannot complete your daily tasks. When you are low on energy, start doing your breathing exercises. You will be amazed how your mind clears and energy increases.
